What If All I Want Is A Mediocre Life?
What If All I Want Is A Mediocre Life? The world is a harsh, noisy, busy place where everyone is telling you to work harder, longer and faster in order to get ahead. That we need to continuously be striving for more and more, that we need to make our life count. We are told that we need to sacrifice our sleep, our families and sometimes even our health in order to make something of ourselves and to make our life count.
But what if living a simpler, quieter life is ok with me? What if I'm ok not making a name for myself in the business world? What if I am not ok with spending late nights at the office? What if I just find the "Rat Race" to be draining? Draining of joy, draining of energy, draining me of what makes me, me? What if all I want is a mediocre life?
What if I don't solve world hunger, I don't house the homeless, I don't find world peace? What if I don't strive for bigger and better things? What if I just exist? What if I just live a life that makes me happy? What if I just offer the world and community where I live what gifts I have no matter how large or small? What's wrong with that? What's wrong with liking my mediocre home, my mediocre career, my mediocre body and my mediocre life? Sometimes the simple life is the one that brings us the most joy and that's ok.
Having ran the rat race for years, constantly striving to get ahead in my career, I have to say, I'm most happy in the mediocre life I've created for myself. Read more in this great blog on living a Mediocre Life.
